Did you know that by 2025, according to UNICEF, "half of the world's population will be living in water-stressed areas"? The use of water as an ingredient in skincare products has become increasingly controversial in recent years, as it has been found to have negative effects on both the environment and the skin. In addition, we've received many questions regarding this topic and would like to share some reasons why not using water as an ingredient in our products is important to us:
Reducing Water Waste: The use of water in skincare products contributes to water waste, particularly in areas where water is scarce. By not using water as an ingredient in our skincare products, we help reduce water waste and conserve this precious resource.
Preventing Bacterial Growth: Water is a breeding ground for bacteria, which can cause skin irritation, infections, and breakouts. By not using water as an ingredient in our products, we prevent bacterial growth and promote healthier, clearer skin.
Increasing Product Shelf Life: Water-based skincare products have a shorter shelf life than non-water-based products, as they are more susceptible to bacterial growth and oxidation. We want you to love our products and indulge into your love-style routine as long as possible. With our formulations, quality over quantity is our motto. In addition, we can increase the product's shelf life and reduce waste.
Reducing Carbon Footprint: The production and transportation of water-based skincare products contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and have a larger carbon footprint than non-water-based products. Without the use of water, we reduce the product's carbon footprint and promote more sustainable practices.
Reducing Water Footprint: Water is a primary ingredient formulated in many skin care products today, and it's also used in the manufacturing and packaging of these products; increasing the amount of water actually being used to create the final product.
Our mission is to continue formulating all of our products without the use of water. Although this ingredient is a simple and "natural" ingredient, we believe that water is a common good and should not be a business; however, it should be accessible to everyone.
So, minimizing our use of water in our formulations gives us the opportunity to give back to non-profit organizations that cater to providing clean, efficient, accessible water to people around the world unable to obtain it.
We strive to promote sustainability and ethical practices throughout our supply chain. Avoiding water in our products, we promote healthier skin and a healthier planet.
